15/06/07 - Launch Pad invite submissions for The Scaldy Detail 2007

Launch Pad, in association with Wexford County Council and Scallta Media, is now inviting submissions for the second issue of The Scaldy Detail.

We are inviting submissions from writers born or based in County Wexford, or writers whose work has a Co. Wexford setting. The editor is Eamonn Wall. Eamonn is an Enniscorthy-born poet and critic. His most recent volume of poetry is Refuge at DeSoto Bend, published by Salmon Publishing in 2004.

RULES OF SUBMISSION

All submissions must be sent electronically in WORD or RTF format to submissions@elaunchpad.org. Submissions can be in Irish or English

Limit of three poems per person (3-5 pages) or (5-7 pages) if you are submitting prose, either short-fiction or essay.

Entrants must be born or based in Co. Wexford, or the material must have a Wexford setting.

Submissions must be original and not have been previously published.

The editor’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

The closing date for submissions is October 1, 2007.

There is no submission fee.

Entries will not be returned.

15/06/05 - Launch Pad invite submissions for The Launchpad Broadsheet

Launchpad now invite submissions for publication its first broadsheet (sponsored by Wexford County Council), which will be published at the end of this year. The content of the broadsheet will be varied encompassing many genres, will be edited by Enniscorthy poet Eamonn Wall, and will be professionally designed and printed. Guidelines for submissions are:

Fiction, prose, drama, memoir, short stories, etc (or extracts of such) welcome, with a rough word limit of 500 words.
Limited to 1 piece
per writer.

Poems, song lyrics, etc welcome, with a rough line limit of 25 lines.
Limited to 3 pieces per writer.

If you would like to be published but are unsure about the guidelines, please contact us and we'll try to accommodate you.

Deadline for submissions is October 1st 2005.

11/05/04 - Launch Pad to organize weekend workshops

Enniscorthy's Launch Pad organization have secured grant aid from Wexford County Council and are now in the process of organizing a creative writing weekend in Enniscorthy. Also Launch Pad's new web site www.elaunchpad.org is now available.

19/03/04 - Launch Pad applies for grant aid

Launch Pad are now investigating the possibility of hosting Summer Workshops, where the following topics would be discussed with well-known tutors over the weekend: creative writing, song writing collaboration, and finding and dealing with publishers. In addition, evening readings, recitals and concerts would be hosted where new songs from the workshops could be showcased and well-known guest writers would read their work.

11/03/04 - Launch Pad celebrates three founding members

Launch Pad reconvened on Thursday 11th March in the National 1798 Centre, Enniscorthy, to celebrate in the achievements of three of Launch Pads most distinguished performers and writers, Betty Thompson, Mogue Doyle and Paul O'Reilly. 

Recently Mogue launched his second novel ‘A Moth At The Glass’ in the Ferrycarraig Hotel to a packed and suitably refreshed house, Betty took second prize for her short story 'Would You Like To See A Photograph?' in the18th Annual RTÉ Radio 1 Francis Mac Manus Short Story Competition, and Paul released his well received debut solo album of original songs, ‘Take A Wish’.

On the night Betty, Mogue and Paul performed some of there work to a well attended house, and by the end of the evening all attendees were glowing from the fine performances and coffee and wine on offer.
